In the wood, the Grizzly took me for her own.
Dressed me in the blood of others, added
mud, and bone. I ran with her for ten
full seasons, pitched low in winter, a mirror
twinned in spring. We fed slim from river,
mapped the grass as graph paper, each blade,
each turn of stone. We could not climb trees,
find the bee’s sweet honey that could be home.
