From the Editor: On Safety and Inclusion

by Jason D. Ramsey

Dear Readers,

It has been a pleasure getting to know so many of you in the writing community. As you may know, Barren Magazine is only six weeks old to date, and as a newer literary magazine we are just learning about the history of the online writing scene. We want to make it crystal clear to everyone that Barren Magazine is a safe space that embraces the beauty of the human condition and celebrates diversity, inclusion, and equality. We at Barren Magazine do not tolerate any form of racism, bigotry, sexism, harassment, political extremism, religious exclusion, or abuse of any kind from our readers, contributors, or volunteers.

We will immediately investigate and take action on any report of misconduct. In six weeks, we have attracted an audience from over 20 countries across 6 continents, due in large part to the intrinsic humanness of our material. We adore our global audience and take pride in our widespread appeal.

If you ever have any concerns about violations of the statements above, please feel comfortable to tell me at any time. We are in contact with a lot of people and sensitive material, and I can assure you that we treat both with the utmost care and respect.

With compassion,

Jason D. Ramsey
